I started my first TWO businesses when I was the ripe old age of 12 (seriously!). What began as piano lessons for the neighborhood kids grew from a small bedroom in my grandparents' house into an internationally recognized performing arts school and professional theatre company with multiple locations, hundreds of students, and a team to match.

Outside of doing what virtually what is virtually unheard of in the creative arts sector (actually scaling a business), I was also able to continue showing up as an artist. I spoke at the largest conference in my industry, I was hired to perform by Broadway in Detroit, I was working with people on Broadway and in film/TV (the music director + resident director of Hamilton are both in pics above!), I was taking my students to NYC each year to work with the best in the business.

I lived and breathed that business – until I didn’t anymore.

In 2019, burnout hit hard because I was the busiest person I knew – busy was my badge of honor. The thing that surprised me the most was how I could be that burnt out when I loved what I was doing that much.

I was that person who carried the weight of the entire business on her shoulders. I could do it better, faster, more efficiently, and the way I liked it – so I was doing virtually everything myself. Then as the pandemic it, I put it all down. Walking away wasn't easy (*cue the identity crisis*), but it taught me this: your business should work for you – not the other way around. It also led me to my next adventure: helping entrepreneurs scale with strategy, clarity, and the freedom they deserve.
